Utah COVID-19 Cases reported by Utah Department of Health as of today: 45,976 confirmed cases total, number of people tested 589,817, positive rate 7.79%; death cases 360, death rate 0.78%; estimated recovered cases 36,679, and active cases 8,937; currently hospitalized 171, and accumulated hospitalization 2,744, 5.97% of the total cases. The average growth is 0.92% per day for the last 14 days, and 0.8% for the last 7 days. 3. Mask Mandate: Bluff became the latest Utah town to enact a local mask mandate on Tuesday, joining Logan and Springdale as the third Utah municipality to pass a local rule requiring face coverings in indoor public spaces. 4. Children are not immune: 200 infants, 3,150 1-14 years old, and 10,257 15-24 years old children or young adults are infected by Covid-19, which makes up 30% of total cases in Utah. Recent research suggests that children can carry at least as much of the virus in their noses and throats as adults do, even if they have only mild or moderate symptoms. The first U.S. schools to resume in-person teaching have shown the perils of reopening with the virus still out of control. In one district in Georgia, nearly 1,200 students and staff members have already been ordered to quarantine. There’s no way “to absolutely have zero risk,” Gov. Herbert said. “All the plans have a plan B to it,” to cover distance learning if an outbreak erupts. “
5. Frozen Food. Despite reports that frozen chicken imported to China from Brazil had tested positive for the coronavirus, experts say the likelihood of catching the virus from food is exceedingly low. Guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention maintain that “there is no evidence to suggest that handling food or consuming food is associated with Covid-19.” The main route the virus is known to take from person to person is through spray from sneezing, coughing, speaking or even breathing. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/13/health/coronavirus-frozen-food.html.
