- Utah COVID-19 Cases reported by UDOH as of today: 1,074(+84) confirmed cases total, number of people tested 21,065, positive rate 5.10%; Hospitalization 100(+9), death cases 7. The growth of coronavirus cases in Utah remains sub-exponential (p=0.72): http://www.castut.org/covid-19/utah0401en.jpg. Major counties of distribution: Salt Lake 476(+32), Summit 204(+9), Utah 105(+15), Davis 103(+10), Wasatch 61(+5). Age distribution: 0-14 2%; 15-24 14%, 25-44 40%, 45-64 32%, 65+ 12%. Gender distribution: male 54%, female 46%. *Note: As of today, UDOH has stopped tracking visitors who are infected, as they are reported in their home states now according to CDC’s guidelines.
- Utah high-tech Silicon Slopes community partners with the State, Intermountain, University of Utah, and ARUP Laboratories to greatly increase testing capacity. Two mobile testing sites are set up at Orem and Provo, more to come in the near future. People who need to have a test for COVID-19, can take an assessment at www.testutah.com first; if needed, TestUtah will refer you to a testing site.
- Medtronic is making available to anyone the full design specifications, produce manuals, design documents and, in the future, software code for its Puritan Bennett (PB) 560 portable ventilator hardware (https://techcrunch.com/2020/03/30/medtronic-is-sharing-its-portable-ventilator-design-specifications-and-code-for-free-to-all/ ). TESLA has reopened its gigafactory in New York to manufacture Medtronic ventilators.
