Utah COVID-19 Cases reported by Utah Department of Health as of today: 1,976(+130) confirmed cases total, number of people tested 38,373, positive rate 5.15%; Hospitalization 168(+10), 8.50% of the total cases; death cases 13, death rate 0.66%; recovered cases 26 (data from 1point3acres.com).   3. Gov. Herbert announced to extend the state’s Stay Safe Stay Home Directive to the end of April. He encourages people to wear masks when going to grocery stores. This week is a holy week for several faiths. Governor invites all Utahns, regardless of religions, to join together asking from Heaven for finding cure and having economic recovery soon. He also asks us to offer a helping hand to others in need.
  4. State Epidemiologist Dr. Dunn said that Utah’s testing ability has greatly improved in this week to meet the testing needs of all symptomatic people, but the number of daily tests is currently lower than last week. She called on healthcare providers to send symptomatic patients for testing.
  5. Intermountain Healthcare opens an Emotional Health Relief Line: 833-442-2211, providing FREE mental health consultation to healthcare workers and all people in Utah. It operates daily from 10am to 10pm with staffers who speak 20 different languages.  
  6. Chinese Utahns have continued to donate PPP to Hospitals. On Apr.8, Dr. Minmin Zhou, President of CAST-UT, on behalf of the Alliance, donated 1,000 KN95 masks to the University of Utah Hospital. On Apr. 2 Chris Leng, Deputy Director of Utah Chinese Civic Center together with the volunteers made donations, which are collected from Chinese Utahns to the University of Utah Hospital. The donations include 607 N95 mask (200 are 3M 1860 N95 masks), 1,100 ear protectors and 1,300 medical gloves.
