  6. 犹他州长 Herbert 宣布,在接下来的剩余学年里,学校继续实行”软关闭”。 在此前三月二十三号的一次发布会上,州长曾下令继续关闭K-12的学校六周或更久,并有可能在五月一号重新开放。但现在已经延续到整个剩余学年都关闭。
  7. 4月13日,FDA (食品药品监督管理局) 批准了另外42家工厂位于中国的企业所生产的口罩获紧急使用授权(EUA),加上之前4/3许可的4家,共有46家企业,其中有20多家的KN95口罩有EUA授权,见:https://www.fda.gov/media/136663/download

  2. Utah COVID-19 Cases reported by Utah Department of Health as of today: 2,412(+49) confirmed cases total, number of people tested 46,476, positive rate 5.19%; Hospitalization 213(+12), 8.83% of the total cases; death cases 19(+1), death rate 0.79%; recovered cases 218 (data from 1point3acres.com). The growth of coronavirus cases in Utah has been mainly following sub-exponential growth trend (p=0.57): http://www.castut.org/covid-19/utah0414en.png. The number of new cases has been decreasing in 5 successive days. The average growth is 6.08% per day for the last 14 days, and 4.33% for the last 7 days.   3. Since 4/10, U.S. has adopted a wide range of antibody detection methods to determine the immunity of the new coronavirus patients, hoping to resume work as soon as possible and restart the economy. On 4/11, the New York Times reported on the first group of immunizers in the nation. They were able to return to work safely. Among them is Dr. Clement Chow, a 38-year-old Chinese professor who was the first COVID-19 patient in the ICU of the University of Utah Hospital.   4. State epidemiologist Dunn said that some 28% of the COVID-19 cases in Utah are Hispanic or Latino, a population that makes up only 14% of the state’s population. UDOH aims to help limit disparities in populations, “breading down barriers that are preventing people from self-isolating and self-quarantining,” Dunn said.   5. Salt Lake City is seeking cloth mask donations. Beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, April 14 there will be no-contact collection bins outside of Salt Lake City’s 14 fire stations for drop off. The city will collect, sort, wash and inventory masks every night and distribute to first responders and essential employees, vulnerable members of the community, and persons interacting with our employees and first responders.   6. Governor Herbert announced that we will remain in the “soft school closure” for the remainder of the school year. In a previous order on Mar 23, Governor said the K-12 schools would be closed for six more weeks, which were expected to reopen on May 1st.
  7. On Apr 13, FDA approved another 42 manufacturers in China under EUA. Including the four approved on Apr 3, there are 46 suppliers from China and more than 20 suppliers of KN95 masks with EUA authorization. Details can be seen here: https://www.fda.gov/media/136663/download.
  8. The second tranche of the Utah Leads Together Small Business Bridge Loan for entities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic will accept applications from April 13, 2020, at 8 a.m. to April 16 at noon (MDT). During round two, loan applications will be accepted from Utah small businesses and Utah 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations. Nonprofits were not included in tranche one.
