Utah COVID-19 Cases reported by Utah Department of Health as of today: 3,296(+83) confirmed cases total, number of people tested 72,358, positive rate 4.56%; Hospitalization 277(+9), 8.40% of the total cases; death cases 32(+4), death rate 0.97%; recovered cases 888(+113). The growth of coronavirus cases in Utah has been mainly following subexponential growth trend (p=0.50): http://www.castut.org/covid-19/utah0421en.png. The average growth is 4.31% per day for the last 14 days, and 4.35% for the last 7 days.   3. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the first diagnostic test with a home collection option for COVID-19. Specifically, the FDA re-issued the emergency use authorization (EUA) for the Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) COVID-19 RT-PCR Test to permit testing of samples self-collected by patients at home using LabCorp’s Pixel by LabCorp COVID-19 Test home collection kit.   4. Lt. Gov. Cox tweeted: Another productive call this morning with Vice President Pence, Dr. Birx and the federal task force. The entire meetings were focused on testing and this map, “Test Capacity Per Month Per 1,000 People by State.” Utah is in the top group. Everything you need to know about dedication and collaboration in Utah is right here. And we are doing it with almost no federal help. We tasked the Hospital Association to develop new protocols to allow more outpatient surgeries. We should see changes happening in the next few days!
  5. After stalemate between Democrats and Republicans in the Senate for weeks, the Senate approved a relief package worth roughly $484 billion to mitigate the economic fallout of the coronavirus pandemic.
