https://www.deseret.com/cn/utah/2020/4/22/21231510/davis-weber-morgan-businesses-coronavirus-covid-19-may-1-utah-department-of-health

Devotion to Our Community
All Utahns Fight Against Coronavirus

【4/23 COVID-19 Briefing by Utah Chinese Communities 6:00pm Mountain Time】

=== Safety Measures for COVID-19:Shelter in Place, Keep 6’ Distance, Stay Calm, Tele-commute and Tele-medicine. ===

  1. U.S. Confirmed Cases: 889,309(+35,059), Deaths: 50,256(+2,423), Recovered:81,948(+4,582). (https://coronavirus.1point3acres.com/).
  2. Utah COVID-19 Cases reported by Utah Department of Health as of today: 3,612(+167) confirmed cases total, number of people tested 80,627, positive rate 4.48%; Hospitalization 301(+13), 8.33% of the total cases; death cases 35(+1), death rate 0.97%; recovered cases 1,050(+81). The growth of coronavirus cases in Utah has been mainly following subexponential growth trend (p=0.49): http://www.castut.org/covid-19/utah0423en.png. The average growth is 4.19% per day for the last 14 days, and 4.11% for the last 7 days. Distribution in counties/areas in the format of “cases/ hospitalization/ death”: Salt Lake 1,889/ 165/ 20, Utah 611/ 33/ 6, Summit 343/ 31/ 0, Davis 254/ 21/ 2, Weber-Morgan 136/ 15/ 2, Wasatch 127/ 6/ 1, Southwest Utah 76/ 9/ 1, Bear River 56/ 10/ 1, Tooele 46/ 4/ 0, San Juan 37/ 5/ 2, TriCounty 9/ 1/ 0, Central Utah 21/ 1/ 0, Southeast Utah 7/ 0/ 0.
  3. Some restaurants and businesses in Davis, Weber and Morgan counties will be allowed to open May 1. The health officials said the risk of coronavirus transmission there is “moderate.” Davis, Weber and Morgan counties have 379 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and have reported four related deaths. They will be the first in the state to announce loosening restrictions on businesses, but officials there are still asking the public to wear masks and to maintain social distancing while out and about, and especially as they patronize businesses. 4. The number of childhood immunizations has fallen sharply during the pandemic, putting millions in U.S. at risk for measles, whooping cough and other life-threatening illnesses. According to immunization experts, the optimum rate of coverage for many vaccines, known as herd immunity, is about 90 to 95 percent. Vaccinate Your Family, a national nonprofit group, is pushing families to set reminders to reschedule canceled vaccine appointments. Source: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/23/health/coronavirus-measles-vaccines.html/
  5. Trump on Wednesday issued a call for the country’s national parks to reopen, including Utah’s Mighty Five that were shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In reaction, Gov. Herbert issued a statement that said Trump’s reasoning falls in line with his decision last week to reopen state parks to all visitors. Utah’s national parks were closed after pleas from regional health departments and local communities concerned about the lack of social distancing and limited health care services in rural areas. Herbert stressed the need to adhere to national guidelines and practicing safe social distancing to prevent further spread of the virus. https://www.ksl.com/article/46744346/trump-calls-for-national-parks-to-reopen-utah-governor-backs-structured-and-safe-plan
  6. Antibody Testing have begun in ARUP Laboratories. Beginning on Apr 22, providers can use EPIC to order serology tests. Although it remains unclear how a positive antibody test correlates to predictive immunity, serology is useful for identifying previous infections. Source: https://www.aruplab.com/infectious-disease/coronavirus/testing#antibody.
  7. Recently, pets have been tested positive for coronavirus. At this time, there is no evidence that animals play a significant role in spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. Based on the limited information available to date, the risk of animals spreading COVID-19 to people is considered to be low.
