Utah COVID-19 Cases reported by Utah Department of Health as of today: 4,123(+175) confirmed cases total, number of people tested 95,702, positive rate 4.31%; Hospitalization 345(+16), 8.37% of the total cases; death cases 41(+0), death rate 0.99%; estimated recovered cases 1,568(+169). The growth of coronavirus cases in Utah has been mainly following sub-exponential growth trend (p=0.49): http://www.castut.org/covid-19/utah0426en.png. The average growth is 4.33% per day for the last 14 days, and 4.32% for the last 7 days. State parks were crowded: Sand Hollow, Gunlock, and Quail Creek in Washington County were closed midday Saturday as crowds overwhelm the parks.  East Canyon in Morgan and Deer Creek state parks in Wasatch county were also busy, but they didn’t have to close. State parks officials asked visitors to prepay online and to continue practicing social distancing and other COVID-19 preventative measures.   4. During the first week of ProjectProtect, volunteers in Utah sewed and delivered the first 1 million masks for Utah health care workers. The project has been established to produce 5 million masks in five weeks.   5. Utah officials stressed the need for residents to wear face coverings in public. Health and economic officials call for face coverings in every stage of their most recent reopening plans until the state is back to “normal” life. In tracking more than 1,500 customers last week at 11 grocery stores around the Salt Lake Valley, The Salt Lake Tribune found only 42% were wearing masks or other face coverings as they exited.
