Calls for Nominations for Outstanding High School Students Scholarships
in Math, Arts, Science and Technology
In 2008, the Chinese Association for Science and Technology in Utah (CAST-UT) first launched Outstanding High School Students Scholarships in Math, Arts, Science and Technology to honor local outstanding high school students. CAST-UT is calling for nominations for this prestigious scholarship this year again. This scholarship provides a certificate and a cash prize. Nominations should be submitted by email to the Selection Committee (castutah@gmail.com) no later than January 15, 2015. Application shall include a cover letter from the student on eligibility and other relevant information, supporting documentation (transcripts, certificates, etc.), and at least two letters of reference (at least one from the student’s teacher at school).
Applications will be ranked according to the following eligibility criteria:
1. The student must have attended a high school in Utah for at least one school year, and is currently enrolled in 10th to 12th grade at a high school or in the first-year of college in Utah;
2. The student or one of the parents must be an active member of CAST-UT (i.e., paid their current year membership);
3. Priority will be given to first time applicants;
4. The student must have a GPA of “B+” or above in high school;
5. Good citizenship and community service will be important;
6. Outstanding achievements in the areas of math, arts, science and technology, either inside or outside of classroom.
Awardees will be notified by email before January 20, 2015. The awards will be presented at 2015 CAST-UT Conference, on January 24, 2015 in the University of Utah Guest House Conference Center, Salt Lake City. Registration of the conference can be found at CAST-UT website at www.castut.org.
CAST-UT is a non-profit, non-political organization registered in the State of Utah. Its missions are 1) build relationships and exchange programs between China and United States in the areas of science, technology, education, culture, business, and trade; 2) promote traditional Chinese culture and local Chinese community activities to the general public in the United States; and 3) provide networking and collaboration opportunities among Chinese scholars and professionals in the United States.

(110 South Fort Douglas Blvd. Building 801)举办盛大年会。本次年会CAST-UT有幸邀
请到了诺贝尔奖得主、美国分子遗传学家、犹他大学马里奥·卡佩奇( r. Mario Capecchi) 教授
在晚宴上做主题演讲,同时,包括大数据在内的多个专题研讨会将在当天下午平行举行。旅
美科协犹他分会将承继2008年开办此奖项以来的成功,继续表彰那些在数学、艺术、科
学以及技术领域有突出表现的高 学生。此奖学金将同时以证书和奖金的形式进行颁发。
奖学金申请应在2015年 1月 15日之前提交至评选委员会(castutah@gmail.com),并且
应包括一封包含自我评估以及相关其他资料的申请信,相应的证明材料(成绩单、证书
等),不少于两封推荐信(至少有一封来自学生所在学校的老师)。
所有申请者将按照以下标准进行筛选:
. 学生必须参加在犹他州一所高 至少一学年,目前就读于 0 至 2 年级的高 或犹他
州内大学的第一年;
2. 学生或父母 的一方必须是CAST-UT 的积极成员(即缴纳了本年度的会员);
3. 将优先考虑首次申请;
4. 学生必须有“B+”或以上的高 GPA;
5. 良好的公民和社区服务将是重要的;
6. 在数学,艺术,科学和技术领域的优秀成绩,无论是校内或是课堂外。
